I created Between Sentences because the most important work often happens in the gaps: after the idea, before the decision.
Most founders don't get stuck on the big picture. They get stuck in between: knowing what they want and committing to it, spotting a funding opportunity and building a credible application, having a strategy on paper and taking the first real step.
Between Sentences is where I work with them in that space. It's a place to think clearly, test a direction before committing to it, and be asked the right questions rather than handed a plan that sits in a drawer.
My advice and coaching help early-stage founders and growth-stage SMEs secure funding, focus their growth and decide with confidence. Advisers tend to hand over a report. Coaches often haven't read a grant application. I do both, so thinking turns into decisions and decisions turn into outcomes.

I'm Sophie Baker and I work as a strategic adviser, coach and mentor.
My career hasn't followed a straight line, and that's my advantage. I've worked across operations, communications and project management, hospitality, events, sustainability and sales. Each role taught me how businesses run and how to archive growth.
For the past four years I've worked as an innovation and growth specialist, supporting more than 100 SMEs and innovation-led businesses with growth strategy, commercialisation, investment readiness and grant funding. In the last financial year my clients and I archived a total raise £13 million. I help founders see the real scope of what they're building, pressure-test it, and stay steady through the process.
Alongside advisory, I hold a Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring. I work with founders on the thinking behind the decisions: what they're actually solving for, and what's in the way. I enjoy this work because I see what happens when a founder stops second-guessing and starts moving with purpose.
I am passionate about supporting women and I work with women in the criminal justice system and support charities in this sector. I believe with the right help and support any change is possible.
